Hi, I'm Fred Perrotta.

I'm the co-founder of Tortuga. We make carry-on-sized travel backpacks to help you pack everything you need for your next big trip. I also co-own Desert Gold, an Airbnb in Joshua Tree, California.

I'm passionate about travel, remote work, and location independence. I'm originally from New Castle, Pennsylvania but have lived in the Bay Area since 2007.

Before starting Tortuga, I worked at Google and then as a freelance performance marketer for startups like Airbnb, Lyft, and Udemy.

On this site, I write about running a bootstrapped and remote ecommerce business.
